PET of Reston is seeking to hire a Full-Time PET/CT Technologist Assistant to join a fast-paced outpatient medical imaging center with current cutting-edge technology. A PET/CT Tech Aide will assist a certified PET/CT technologist in patient care during imaging procedures, including preparing patients for scans, positioning them on the table, and maintaining equipment cleanliness, all under the direct supervision of the technologist; their key responsibilities involve ensuring patient comfort and safety while supporting the smooth flow of examinations within a PET/CT imaging facility.

 

Key responsibilities include:

​Patient preparation:

• Greeting patients and verifying their identification and physician’s order

• Obtaining patient history and reviewing relevant medical information

• Explaining the procedure and addressing any patient concerns

• Successfully prepping patients for their exam (start IV)

• Preparing patients by dressing them appropriately and positioning them on the scanning table​

Technical assistance:

• Assisting the technologist with setting up the PET/CT scanner parameters

• Positioning patients accurately using positioning aids as needed

• Monitoring patient during the scan

Quality control:

• Ensuring proper image quality by monitoring scanner settings and identifying potential issues

• Performing basic quality control checks on equipment as needed

Administrative tasks: 

• Maintaining patient records and documentation

• Scheduling appointments and managing patient flow

• Cleaning and disinfecting the scan room and equipment

• Assist with front desk duties including but limited to answering phones, scheduling, and checking in patients
